Stuart Greig is the Jim’s Real Estate Victorian Franchisor.
I started in real estate as a 19-year-old working for Paul Morris Real Estate in Ringwood East. I had a very successful 8-year stint with Paul Morris Real Estate and know the area well. The next two years were spent pursuing my other passion – selling Holden HSV Cars for Patterson Cheney in Ringwood. (During my time at Patterson Cheney I was awarded top salesman of the year for Australia)
Two years later I purchased Paul Morris Real Estate and rebadged it to More Real Estate. The rationale was “We do More at & More”
After a couple of years in the business and following the birth of our second child I had the opportunity to merge my business with the Barry Plant group. I became a director of 3 offices in the group comprising Ringwood, Heathmont & Ringwood North. After 2 years as a director I used a clause in my contract to sell my share and stayed on managing the offices for another 3 year.
In 2008 I purchased an office in Healesville and rebadged it to Barry Plant. That office had over 350 rentals and 6 staff. After 5 years I decided to sell and do something different.
I commenced working with Porter Davis Homes selling new homes with the view to starting up their dual occ development sales. I sold over 200 dual development sites during my 3 years with Porter Davis.
My next area of work was looking after clients for a renovation company. Clients there were looking at renovating and extending their family home.
My passion for real estate and development has never diminished, so when I saw the advert for Jims Real Estate it immediately caught my attention and I attended one of the information sessions and have subsequently purchased a Regional Franchise.
In my spare time I am the Chairman of the Ringwood East & Heathmont Bendigo Bank, a position I have held for over 15 years. My purpose is to give back to the community into which I was born and where I have lived for my entire life. Over the years the Bank has helped over 150 community groups, given away over $2.4 million dollars and worked on some major projects with local, state & federal governments.
As a fellow Jims franchisee/or franchisor Jims Real Estate is the new kid on the block. Over my working years I have become very aware of the power of collaboration between organisations. When groups collaborate, it provides an exceptional opportunity for a win/ win for everyone.
As a real estate business, I can help you with your business. Likewise, I am sure you can help me with mine. I am encouraging all Jims franchisees to ask this question when you are doing your first job for a new client: “Are you looking at selling in the year future?” If the response is ‘Yes’ or ‘Maybe’ asking your client if it’s okay for me to call them. If I am successful in listing and selling that property, $500 cash is all yours.
I am also looking for franchisees. If you know somebody that you believe will make a good Jims Real Estate agent $1000 cash is all yours for each successful sale.
